We had a large Italian area in the north end of my city, which is Hamilton, Ont. Canada. It has shrunk in size over the last few years as other ethnic groups moved in, but this made it very interesting. There were several coffee & pastry shops, fresh meat & fish markets, a big church next to that, then fabric & a clothing stores for the whole family with communion outfits, wedding gifts, etc. The wonderful aroma of fresh bread and different kinds of salami is something I really miss. You could get anything down there and everything was all made in Italy. I wish there were more of these neighbourhoods rather than the large supermarkets markets. Those were the good old days. Wonderful story Jessica Bell.
